Verified Search: find the exact answer in authorised Product Information.
Patients and healthcare professionals ask questions in everyday language. Verified Search shows the matching passage from the authority-published ePI, word for word and with its source. It never writes an answer of its own.
Last updated: 29 September 2026
Verified Search is a natural-language search for electronic Product Information (ePI). It returns only verbatim passages from the version published by the competent authority, and gives no answer when no reliable match exists.
- Searches only authority-published Package Leaflets and SmPCs.
- Shows the original wording, unchanged, with document, section and version.
- Every result is verified against the stored authorised text before it is shown.
- No reliable match means no answer, plus a link to the full Product Information.
- No summaries, no interpretation, no medical advice.
Why not keyword search, or a chatbot?
Product Information is regulated text. Its wording is approved by the authority, so how it is found and shown matters.
Keyword search needs the exact words
A patient types “missed dose”. The leaflet says “If you forget to take”. Classic search matches words, not questions, so the relevant section is often not found.
Chatbots rewrite approved content
Generative AI answers in its own words. It can summarise, leave out warnings or state things the Product Information does not say. For medicinal information, that is a risk no disclaimer removes.
How Verified Search works.
Finding and showing are separate steps. AI helps locate the evidence; the evidence itself is never changed.
- 01
Ask
The user asks a question in everyday language, for example “Can I drive after taking this?”.
- 02
Rank
Candidate passages are ranked across the QRD sections of the authority-published Package Leaflet and SmPC.
- 03
Verify
An independent check confirms each candidate against the stored authorised version: same document, same section, same text.
- 04
Show or abstain
A verified passage is shown verbatim with its source. Below the confidence threshold, no answer is given.

Verified Search vs. keyword search and AI chatbots.
| Keyword search | Generative AI chatbot | Verified Search | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Handles everyday questions | Only with exact terms | Yes | Yes, mapped to QRD sections |
| Shows authorised wording unchanged | Yes | No, paraphrases | Yes, always verbatim |
| Shows the exact source | Document at best | Rarely reliable | Document, section and version |
| When unsure | Shows loosely related hits | May still answer | No answer, links to full text |
| Can create new medical content | No | Yes | No, by design |
What it searches
Only electronic Product Information as published by the competent authority. ePIverity brings the published ePI back from the authority into your controlled environment, so search always uses the current authorised version, not drafts or internal copies.
Because ePI is structured by QRD section, language and version, results can point to the exact place in the Product Information instead of a whole PDF.
Where you can use it
Delivered through an API and an embeddable web component.
Users need no account. Search queries are not stored in the audit log.
Verified Search: frequently asked questions
What is Verified Search?
Verified Search is the optional search module of ePIverity. People ask a question in plain language and get the matching passage from the authority-published electronic Product Information (ePI), shown word for word with its document, section and version. It does not generate answers.
Is Verified Search a chatbot?
No. A chatbot writes a new answer in its own words. Verified Search only locates and displays text that already exists in the authorised Product Information, unchanged.
Does Verified Search generate medical answers or advice?
No. It does not summarise, interpret or recommend. Every result is a verbatim passage from the authority-published Product Information, and it is not a substitute for advice from a doctor or pharmacist.
What happens if no reliable passage is found?
Verified Search returns no answer. Instead, it links to the full authorised Product Information so the user can read it directly. This is enforced by the architecture, not by instructing an AI model.
Which content does Verified Search use?
Only authority-published electronic Product Information, such as the Package Leaflet and SmPC as published by the competent authority. Drafts, internal versions and marketing content are not searched.
Does Verified Search use AI?
Only to find evidence, never to write it. Retrieval ranks candidate passages; a separate verification step checks each result against the stored authorised version before anything is shown.
Is Verified Search part of the regulatory submission?
No. It is an optional downstream module. Submission and approval of ePI happen in the EMA PLM Portal and with the competent authority; Verified Search only works with Product Information after it has been published.
Can we embed Verified Search in our website or apps?
Verified Search is designed to be delivered through an API and an embeddable web component for websites, HCP portals and medical-information systems. Talk to us about your integration.
Is Verified Search available today?
Verified Search is in preview. Public access requires authority-published ePI to be available in ePIverity. Contact us to see it on your own Product Information.
